Original File Not Found Error ...

I have all of my music on an external HD (WD MyBook) but am having issues playing the songs in iTunes. I receive an error stating "The song ABC could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?". If I choose to locate, I navigate to the MyBook location and it then plays. I also have my iTunes Music folder location set to My Book:iTunes: which is the root location of all the iTunes files. How do I avoid the error, and have the music play from the My Book location all the time?
