iTunes permissions problem- need ...

So yesterday I cleaned out a bunch of old crap on my computer (MBP, 10.5.4) and now when I try to play certain tracks on my iTunes, I get the "This computer is not authorized to play so-and-so" window plus "would you like to authorize it?" When I enter my password, a new window comes up that says, ominously, "There was an error storing your authorization information on this computer." and then adds, "The required directory was not found or has a permissions error. Correct this permissions problem and try again, or deauthorize this computer if the permissions cannot be changed."

When I was "spring cleaning", I did delete a couple movies, a music video (from a physical CD), and a bunch of TV episodes. Could that have anything to do with this?
