I just got my 4th iPod (3rd generation) shuffle (due to sweat problem) and have found that i cant load my main playlist because it is too big. Now i know having a playlist that exceeds the size of the shuffle memory means it wont load all the songs, but on my prior shuffles, a selection of those songs on that playlist would be loaded. And when i synced, all exiting songs would be removed and a new selection from the big playlist library would be installed. But now, when i attempt to load songs from my playlist, a pop-up states that the playlist is too big and asks would i like to load a 'selection of songs' - to which i reply 'yes'. Then, however, it deselects my playlist and loads a selection of songs from my entire library ! Why ? I don't want songs from my wifes Mamma Mia CD when i am pounding the pavement.
